In 1972, Christo and Jean-Claude came to Sonoma County with their idea for the Running Fence.

They had to convince local ranchers and towns of their vision. Many people thought was nuts to give him permission to cross their land with a large crew of workers and materials.

We have invited several locals who negotiated with Christo early on to reminisce and share their experiences in a panel discussion. We will also be screening the Smithsonian documentary "Christo and Jeanne-Claude: Remembering the Running Fence".
